NY International Gift Fair 2012

Box Play for Kids is headed to New York! We will be at the NY International Gift Fair (NYIGF) on August 19-22. If you’re headed that way, too, find us at booth #5918.
Here’s a peek at our online catalog for the show.
As if attending the show wasn’t awesome enough, we’re also one of seven finalists for the Eco Choice Award in the “Most Sellable” category. We would be honored if you would take a minute and vote for BPFK here. The last day to vote is TOMORROW – Wednesday, August 8.

How to Build the Most Awesome Fort

It’s too hot to let my kids burn some energy off outside and I have a million things to get done today, so I turned to my favorite babysitter. The fort. And my secret for building the most perfect fort? Extra large binder clips and King-sized fitted sheets. The elastic in the fitted sheet gives it some ‘catch’ around corners of chairs and tables. And the binder clips help you pull the sheet more taut. Just pull the sheets to a nearby stool, chair, shelf, table, cushion, etc. and clip.
{Our princess likes to keep her crowns on the TOP of her castle.}
There’s a science to this, people. The better the fort, the longer the kids play in it, and the more I get done. My fort allowed me to to do three loads of laundry, pick up both kids’ rooms, watch an episode of Giuliana & Bill, and write this fine little post. You’re welcome.
Oh, and here’s an article I found about other binder clip uses. It will change your life. My favorite is the iPhone docking station.

Memorial Day Project: American Flag

My kids love painting, I love anything that has their hand or foot prints on it {other than my floors and windows} and it’s Memorial Day weekend. Add these together and here’s one USA-themed project that’s simple to do with your kids.

I painted their hands and feet and they did the rest. One bruised tailbone later {painted feet on a concrete patio is a slipping hazard, by the way} and we have our flag.
Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone!

Box Play for Kids Now Found in Museums and UncommonGoods.com

When we started this Box Play for Kids journey, a dream of ours was to sell our eco-friendly stickers in art museums across the country. I am pinching myself as I type this, because Box Play for Kids can now be found at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Oakland Museum of California, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry and the Phoenix Art Museum.  We are honored to be a part of the offerings of these prestigious institutions.

And look for us soon at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles.

And more huge news? Visit our friends at Uncommon Goods and you can find two Box Play for Kids collections. Our Transportation Collection and the Music & Artist Collection. Uncommon Goods offers such unique and creative products. We’re long time fans and honored to be part of the family.

Invented by Chloe. Designed by mom and dad.

Could an idea this simple spring from anywhere other than a child’s imagination? Our daughter
is fascinated by many things – but stickers and old boxes top the list. Thus, the idea for Box Play
was born. Fortunately for Chloe, her parents are both designers  who have specialized in package design, branding and advertising for over 20 years. We’re also big fans of anything eco-friendly. Smush all that good stuff together and you have a wonderfully simple toy that stimulates curiosity, enthusiasm and learning. Not to mention smiles.
